Swindon Road Recycling Centre (01242 264 244)
The recycling centre in Swindon Road houses facilities for the disposal of household waste. Access is limited to residents of Cheltenham only, and due to hieght restrictions, vans, whether or not privately owned, are not permitted

Items that can be recycled at the centre

- glass bottles and jars
- food and drink cans
- newspapers and magazines catalogues (no hardbacks)
- yellow pages telephone directories
- scrap metal
- textiles and shoes
- car batteries
- car engine oil
- cardboard
- plastic - any bottles, washed and squashed i.e. shampoo, milk, detergent, bleach but no trays
- foil
- wood and timber
- books
- domestic batteries
Items that cannot be recycled at the centre
- furniture
- videos
- fluorescent tubes
- DIY / builders rubble, including asbestos
- tyres
- paint
- electrical equipment, including computer items
- gas bottles
- car parts
- hazardous waste
- clinical waste
- animal waste
- trade waste
- commercial waste
Fridge’s and Freezers can not be recycled at the Swindon Road plant but can be recycled at the county council civic amenity site at Wingmoor Farm. These items can also be disposed of by the council. Please phone Cheltenham Borough Council to arrange collection. Cleansing: 01242 264244 Reception: 01242 262626. Please note that the council will sub contract the responsibility to the reclaim project of Cheltenham Centre for Change.
Furniture that is no longer used but is in a respectable condition can be donated to Reclaim. This will not only remove the furniture from your home but also allow others to re-use your restored furniture. To donate furniture simply call the Reclaim office 01242 228823.
