Cheltenham Centre for Change runs a Community RePaint scheme in conjunction with the well known Reclaim furniture re-use project. End of line and other surplus paint is collected, checked and made available to community groups, community centres, voluntary groups and people on low incomes. It is an appropriate addition to our furniture and households goods service. We are one of a nationwide network of Community RePaint schemes and benefit from their support and expertise . The network is supported by WRAP , the Department for Environmental Food and Rural Affairs Waste and Resources Action Programme, and by Dulux.
At present we have a good stock of paints and wood seals, including some speciality paints from Focus do-it-all's Feng Shui range. Most of the stock is at our Windsor Street warehouse [map] (no. 37 behind Tangent ), open Wednesday afternoons and on Friday from 10am until 3pm. A much smaller stock is held at our shop adjoining Hester's Way Community Resource Centre on Princess Elizabeth Way opposite Gloscat.
There is no charge for the paint, but we welcome donations which help cover our handling and storage costs. At present we are obtaining paint from commercial ends of lines, for example, but eventually want to extend the service to take unused surpluses from households.
